Aditya Chopra is producing this film. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles. Shamshera is the first film featuring Ranbir Kapoor in a double role. In Shamshera Sanjay Dutt plays the main antagonist and Vaani Kapoor portrays a dancer role. Budget of the movie is 170 crore. Shamshera was initially scheduled for a theatrical release in 2020 , but due to the COVID-19 pandemic its release date extend. Now, it will finally release in worldwide cinemas on 22 July 2022.
